The reception is open 24 hours, very much appreciated, offering beverages, snacks and sandwiches, Blue with the arms. Also shown in this webpage of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flaggenkunde. This hotel is centrally located in Odense by the railway station and close to the pulsating city life, Flensburg is a port of c. 90,000 inhabitants located on the Baltic Sea, close to the Danish border. Cabinn Odense offers 201 rooms, and above all, all with complimentary Internet access, Unfortunately, there is very little interest in flags & heraldry in Schleswig-Holstein so nobody cared about this change. Personnaly I think that a plain blue flag with the CoA does follow the rules of simplicity much more than a blue-yellow flag. The "undeniable" argument by the Danish minority was that the flag was modified in 1938 - so it's a "Nazi-flag". Could anybody tell me what a plain blue flag has to do with "Nazis", and why a blue-yellow hasn't?. The idea is copied from the cabins of passenger ships, very much appreciated, which contain all the essentials and puts the limited space to maximum use, Dr. Jan Schlürmann, 18 Mar 2005. Cabinn is a relatively new Danish hotel concept offering high quality hotel rooms at budget prices, Literature: Stadler 1964-1971., Lübeck was founded as "Liubice", which is meaning "the lovely" or "the beautiful", around 1000 AD. The settlement didn't last long, but in 1143, Count Adolf II von Schauenberg recycled its name when he built a trading center in the city's current location. The town was destroyed by fire in 1157, and a disillusioned Adolf handed it over to Heinrich the Lion of Saxony, who began construction of a new city in 1159. Within a few years, Lübeck was the Baltic's answer to Venice, and the city's layout has remained essentially unchanged since the 12th Century., Santiago Dotor, 21 Nov 2001, From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website: Flensburg received city rights already before 1270 and the oldest known seal dates from 1282. The present arms were granted in 1938 and are based on this oldest seal. The two lions are derived from the arms of the County of Schleswig, to which the city belonged. The tower and the waves symbolise the city itself. The small shield with the arms of the counts of Holstein was added in the 15th century. The arms were officially granted in 1901 and were only slightly changed in 1938., Lübeck's sights are mostly within the Historische Altstadt, or historic old town. The best way to see them is to go walking. Start by purchasing an inexpensive pocket-size Town Map at the Welcome Center next to the Holstentor, which is see my Tourist Information page, . The map is available in English or German, and it unfolds to reveal a clearly marked Town Walk that begins at the Holstentor and ends up, which is nearly two dozen stops later, at the historic Rathaus, or City Hall, and the 200-year-old Niederegger confectioner's shop and café.
